Retailer Best 2008
In 2008, Media Markt won the competition called "Retailer best. The best in kind", organised by Publishing House Retailer. Winners of "Retailer best. The best in kind" are determined by the rating of Russian retail chains compiled by the magazine Retailer magazine, as well as on the basis of publications under the heading "Seven stars", and on the basis of expert assessments. Retail chain Media Markt, which took part in the competition for the first time, won the nomination "Debutant".
Real Russia took first place in the contest "Investor of the year 2008" in the category of "Investor in Retail sector". The annual contest "Investor of the year" was initiated by the Ministry of Investments of Saratov region. In selecting the best investors of the region, the organisers considered total volume of investments in the completion of projects, fixed-asset costs acquired as a result of investment project realization, payback period of investment projects and other issues. Real Russia received the highest evaluation in all of the partial classifications in its category.
In the contest organized by Internet site rabota@mail.ru "Job of the Year 2008", Real Russia received a diploma in the category "Retail Stores". The aim of the contest is to solidify relations between the company and employees by improving working conditions and making relations more stable.
Real Russia has become the laureate of the "Retail Grand Prix 2008" award in the category of "Responsible attitude to the society". The award was organised by "Retail Companies Association" and BBPG. The idea of this contest was to nominate companies that successfully developed strategically important courses for the entire business sector. Real Russia was highly praised by the business community for organising a children’s football cup.
The annual city competition is organised by the Department of Consumer Market and Services of the Moscow government. It is designed to promote achievement, the role of the consumer market and service companies in socio-economic development of the city of Moscow, as well as best practices of the leading consumer market and service companies with the aim of further enhancing service in the city of Moscow. Metro Cash & Carry took third place in the category of "The retail chain".
In 2008, the all-Russian competition "Golden chains" was carried out for the seventh time amongst the largest companies in the trade, public catering and services. The development and improvement of the competition reflects the rapid growth of retail networks in Russia over the past few years. The contest "Golden chains" has become a noticeable phenomenon in the Russian business community, and the central event of the competition – the awards ceremony for the winners – one of the major events in the life of the Russian retail. Metro Cash & Carry has won in the category of "The best wholesale stores".
In the competition called "Retailer best. The best of their kind" that is organised by Publishing House Retailer, Metro Cash & Carry won the award in the category of "The most pushy" and became the leader in terms of the best average receipt in its branch. The winners of "Retailer best. The best of their kind" were based on a rating of Russian retail chains compiled by the magazine Retailer magazine as well as on expert assessments.
