More than 50 percent of Group sales are generated by this business unit, three-quarters of which is produced outside Germany. METRO Cash & Carry is an important growth engine of METRO GROUP. With its presence in 31 countries, this sales division also has the highest degree of internationality. Worldwide, more than 100,000 people work for the METRO Cash & Carry sales brand.

The term "cash & carry" means that customers pick their own orders, pay in cash and carry the merchandise away. The advantages over traditional wholesale operations are the better price/performance rate, the scope of the food and nonfood assortments, the immediate availability of merchandise and the longer business hours every week. Each store’s food assortment includes more than 20,000 items.

Today, the company operates three stores in Saint Petersburg, 11 in Moscow and the Moscow area and two each in Ekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novgorod. Other cities with METRO Cash & Carry store operations are Yaroslavl, Kazan, Volgograd, Samara, Krasnodar, Ekaterinburg, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Tula, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Chelyabinsk, Stavropol, Saratov, Perm, Orenburg, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Novokuznetsk, Togliatti, Penza, Astrakhan, Tver, Kaluga, Kursk and Ivanovo.

The base client of exceeds two million shoppers, most of which are representatives of HORECA segment (hotels, restaurants, catering companies), small and middle businesses, as well as offices, state and commercial organizations, purchasing goods for professional use.

Real

Logo: RealWithin METRO GROUP, Real represents the successful concept of the large-selling- space hypermarket in retailing. Real was established in 1992 by the merger of several German regionally successful hypermarket operators. The Real Hypermarket concept spells success because it combines easy access for the customer, size, clear assortment structure and comprehensive product selection with moderate prices.

In an average selling space of 7 500-8 000 sq.m. the customer quickly and easily finds all items for everyday use, ranging from food and electrical appliances to clothing. One million customers in Germany shop here every day, and more than half a million come to the stores at least once a week. Today it operates more than 430 stores in Germany, Turkey, Poland, Romania and Russia.

In the food area, which accounts for 80% of total sales, Real focuses on quality and freshness. One case in point is the in-store bakery producing fresh bread and rolls every hour. Real gives a top priority to food safety and product quality. The non food segment attracts customers by offering innovative assortment concepts, including the introduction of the shop-in-shop principle for book selling and casual wear.

Real Russia chain counts 15 hypermarkets: 3 in Moscow, 2 in Saint-Petersburg and each one in Lipetsk, Volgograd, Kazan, Yaroslavl, Nizhniy Novgorod, Saratov, Togliatti, Ivanovo, Tambov and Rostov-on-Don.

Today, Media Markt operates more than 585 stores in 16 countries. Each store's assortment includes more than 45,000 brand-name articles in the areas of home entertainment, household appliances, PC hardware and software, TV, video and audio equipment, cameras and camera equipment, sound storage media, DVDs, CDs and mp3s as well as office equipment.

Media Markt entered the Russian market in 2006. Today Media Markt operates 23 stores: eight stores in Moscow, four in St. Petersburg, two in Rostov-on-Don and in Samara, one in Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Tolyatti, Omsk, Kazan, Voronezh, Lipezk.
